         Shankarabharanam raga is a Majestic and Calming raga also known as Dhira shankarabharanam.
          In 18th century Tanjavur Narasayya,a court musician in Tanjavur Palace was so proficient in rendering this raagam that he became known as Shankarabharanam Narasayya.
         Shankarabharanam ragas has many Gamakas(Ornamentations),it is glorified as "Sarva Swara Gamaka Ranjaka Ragam" and is capable of evoking different rasa like Sringara, Veera etc.
       Shankarabharanam means:The Ornament of Lord Shiva.It is associated with Shiva and the seven swaras featured points to seven ornaments of Lord Shiva.
